A-State Trombone Studio Presents Holiday Concert at Jonesboro Library
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library will host a quintet performance by members of the Arkansas State University Trombone Studio for a special holiday concert on Friday, December 12, at 6 p.m. in the Round Room. The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Lucas Kaspar, Instructor of Trombone and Director of Jazz Studies at A-State, will perform a variety of Holiday favorites, including Sleigh Ride, White Christmas, and You’re a Mean One, Mister Grinch, along with many more seasonal selections.
The A-State Trombone Studio was recently selected to perform at the Big 12 National Trombone Conference at Texas Tech University, an honor extended to only four university trombone choirs in the nation.
“It is a huge honor to be these students’ teacher. Working with them brings me joy each day,” said Dr. Kaspar. “We are excited to share some joy with the Jonesboro community. Please come out to support A-State and the wonderful music students.”
Attendees will also have the chance to win a Kindle Scribe, courtesy of our sponsors. Everyone attending the concert will be entered into the giveaway, and the winner will be announced at the end of the performance.
The 2025 Library Concert Series is proudly sponsored by Farmers and Merchants Bank of Jonesboro, St. Bernards Healthcare and Medical Group, The First Horizon Bank Foundation, and the Craighead County Friends of the Library.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Seating will be provided by the library on a first-come, first-served basis.
Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library Announces New Community Food Pantries
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is proud to announce the addition of two new community food pantries, manufactured and donated by Best Manufacturing. These pantries are part of the library’s ongoing effort to support local families and provide accessible resources to the community.
The food pantries are located behind the Security Desk and Teenhub Area. Patrons may take three to four items at a time to help meet their immediate needs. The teen pantry is specifically designated for youth-friendly snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, and crackers, providing students and young visitors with quick, easy nourishment during their time at the library.
The library will accept community donations year-round to help keep both pantries stocked. Suggested donation items include canned goods, pasta, cereal, oatmeal, snack bars, and other non-perishable foods. Donations can be dropped off at the main circulation desk during regular library hours.
“The library is more than just a place for books, it’s a cornerstone of community support,” said Vanessa Adams, Library Director. “We’re grateful to Best Manufacturing for coming to us and making this vision a reality and to our patrons whom we love to serve.”
The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is located at 315 West Oak Avenue in Jonesboro. For more information about the library, visit libraryinjonesboro.org, find them on Facebook, or call 870-935-5133.
