Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library Events
Jonesboro Library Operating Hours & HVAC Update
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library continues to experience HVAC challenges due to manufacturing and supply chain delays. As a result, the library has been operating under adjusted hours.
Beginning Saturday, September 13, the library will reopen on Saturdays with the following hours:
Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Weather permitting, the library plans to resume regular operating hours on Monday, October 6. Regular operating hours are:
Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This date may change depending on daily temperatures come October 6. Updates on HVAC repairs will be provided as they happen through the library’s official social media channels.

Tween Stations: Pirates - Tweens are invited to join the fun for treasure hunts, ship building, and maybe even a change to walk the plank! This swashbuckling program is designed for students in 4th through 6th grade. Patrons are to use the Round Room after-hours entrance on the Madison Street side of the library if the library is still operating under temporary hours. Registration is not required.

Teen Fall Foliage Flower Crowns Workshop - In this creative DIY cosplay crafting workshop, teens will design autumn-inspired flower and leaf crowns to celebrate the changing seasons. This program is a fun opportunity for those planning to attend a costume party, Renaissance Festival, or simply wanting to create a unique seasonal accessory. If the library is still operating under adjusted hours, teens may enter through the Round Room entrance on the Madison Street side of the building. Registration is not required.

September Homeschool Hangout - This program will take place even if library hours remain adjusted. Homeschool students will explore simple machines and rube Goldberg Machines through an engaging hands-on activity. Following the lesson, there will be time for kids to play, socialize, and checkout books. This event is designed for children in pre-K through 6th grade, and no registration is required. Patrons should use the Round Room entrance on the Madison Street side of the building.

Marybeth Byrd Concert - The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is excited to announce that American Idol finalist and Arkansas native Marybeth Byrd will perform live on the library lawn on Thursday, September 18, at 6 p.m. Known for her unique blend of pop and country with an indie edge, Byrd will bring her band for an energetic and heartfelt performance as part of the library’s 2025 Concert Series. “I’m so thankful to work with such and incredible, well-connected team in Nashville.” Byrd, said. “My band members and I give 110% every performance. I have such a passion for magnifying the emotion behind the art that’s delivered.” This free outdoor concert is open to the public and part of the library’s ongoing “Your Library, Your Story” campaign. Limited seating will be provided by the library. However, attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The Concert Series is proudly being sponsored by Farmers and Merchants Bank of Jonesboro, St. Bernards Healthcare and Medical Group, The First Horizon Bank Foundation, and the Craighead County Friends of the Library. Novel Lovers Book Club - This month’s book selection is 1984 by George Orwell. October’s book will be The Caretaker by Ron Rash. Books are available for checkout in both physical and digital format. Tween Afternoon Tea - Tweens are invited to come and enjoy afternoon tea, hobbit style! Guests will be offered a selection of teas and delicacies while they create their own hobbit hole. Tweens must use the Round Room after hours entrance on the Madison Street side of the library. Registration is not required.
Library Hosts Library Card Sign-up Drive & Giveaway
(Jonesboro, AR) In of National Library Card Sign-up Month this September, the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is hosting a library card sign-up drive. Patrons who register for a library card between September 2nd and September 30th will be entered into a drawing to win a Kindle Paperwhite.
Signing up for a library card is completely free. Residents of Craighead and Poinsett Counties are eligible with a valid photo I.D. and proof of mailing address, such as a driver’s license or a piece of mail. For those unable to visit the library in person, digital library cards may also be created through the library’s website on a desktop computer. Both physical and digital cards will be entered into the prize drawing.
Jonesboro Library Hosts September Pre-K Storytime
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is hosting a Pre-K Storytime every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the month of September at 10:00 a.m., in the Children’s Area. Pre-K Storytime is for ages 3 to 5 years old.
The September themes include:

- September 23 & 24: Hair
- September 30 & October 1: Fairytales
Jonesboro Library Hosts September Toddler Time Storytime
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is hosting a Toddler Time Storytime every Thursday throughout the month of September at 10:00 a.m., in the Children’s Area. Toddler Time Storytime is for 18 to 36 months.

Jonesboro Library Hosts September Bookish Babies Storytime
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is hosting a Bookish Babies Storytime every Friday throughout the month of September at 10:00 a.m., in the Children’s Area. Bookish Babies Storytime is for 0 to 18 months.

Jonesboro Library Hosts Weekly Knitting, Cross-Stitch & Sketchbook Club
(Jonesboro, AR) The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is hosting weekly Knitting, Cross-Stitch, and Sketchbook Clubs for adults.
Sketchbook Club will meet every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Genealogy Area during the month of September. Patrons are encouraged to bring their sketchbooks and draw together while exploring new mediums and sharing ideas with fellow artists. All skill levels are welcome.
Cross-Stitch and Knitting will meet every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in the Genealogy Area during the month of September. This club is open to all thread work, including embroidery and crochet, and welcomes participants of all experience levels.
